Just in case you have not noticed, we will now point out one of the trends on this blog / web site. We try to spend time regularly appreciating the little things and overlooked blessings in life. This probably came from over three decades of being told by society that we will never have as good of a life as our parents. We just refuse to accept these statements as true. So, we doggedly look for good things in our world.

One of the recent things we discovered was the 1st Creek Green way on Broadway in Knoxville. It is right off the interstate ramp entering Broadway from I-40. It may have been there for years, but there right before Delux (I think that is the name) paints we noticed the sign. If you are ever in Knoxville check it out, if you live in Knoxville you probably see it regularly. Anyway we had never noticed it, even though we had probably pasted that part of Broadway a minimum of 500 times in our life, and at least a few times a week for the last few years.

There are a lot of excuses we could make for missing it. Maybe it was the commonality of the sign or the location that made us miss it. If there had been a huge sign or parking lot we probably would have noticed it earlier. Those are not at this location though, so we I missed it. The sign and the location are so common that we never appreciated it. Small city sign, no directional signage, and no designated parking lot meant it feel into the background as we passed.

If we are not careful the great things in our life can be missed though because they become so common to us. Our husbands / wives, our friends, our children (regardless of the number of legs they have), our families, our neighborhoods, our churches, our jobs, etc. We are all so blessed that we never notice even 50% of the blessings in our lives. What a statement on both the nature of God’s provision and our own arrogance and attitude.

Unfortunately Jesus, God, and The Holy Spirit can all become like the other blessings in our life if we are not careful. The Trinity can become common to us.

How bizarre that the creator, savior, and spiritual guide of the universe and humanity can all become a commonly overlooked part of the very lives that God personally created, the Christ personally died for, and that the Holy Spirit constantly works to impact and guide. That is a supreme example of free will if you ask me. God allows us to overlook/forget Him, because He gave us the freedom to ignore Him, and has enough self control to allow us to do it and not intervene. What amazing testament to His divinity and lordship.

To me a sign of a minor human created god is if the god needs our attention and our sacrifices to be satisfied. It is the mark of the ultimate God if He needs neither our attention or our sacrifices, but allows us to give Him both because He knows that we better off if He allows us to be in His presence.

That is what I am thanking God for today. - His commonality in my life. The fact that He is always present, and always working to make my life better, even when I forget to notice.

Just wanted to share how much I am enjoying God's commonality in my life. He is just there. No need for a flashy sign, or signal. He is there. When I reach out He takes my hand. When I fall He is already there to help me up. When I need to talk He is there to listen. Never busy, never tired, never demanding my attention, although He wants my attention all the time. I think that is the key to His divinity at times. His lack of demands and attention grabbing shows me just how in control that He is. If He was human He would demand attention from us constantly.

Just wanted to share one more amazing thing about God. Have a great day, stay strong, be courageous, serve God in all things, and rejoice in how much God is in your world today.
