As we move into the Labor Day Holiday we thought it would be a good time to share a short little note about how important it is to remember to labor for those around you. It may not seem like a topic that fits with Labor Day, but we were thinking that laboring for others really means focusing on the pain that many are feeling and that is overlooked because we are all so busy enjoying life.

The goal of Christians should be to help move the hurting and the lost to a place where they can better see God. God however, is the one that really finds and heals all that are hurting. We merely get to act as transitional care providers until God begins or completes His work. This means that while are busy living, we should also be busy working to change the world for God.

We all have known someone
Whose life has come undone
But careful lest you fall
For help you will call

The Word was my desire
To calm the raging fire
Within me burning
And solace I did find
My wounds He did bind

The trials were sent in love
To make me rise above
And like the prodigal son
Thy will be done

It's been some years I fear
Since I to Him drew near
I feel no pain inside

The trials were sent in love
To make me rise above
And like the prodigal son
Thy will be done

Will I ever feel Your love again
And is this empty heart something you'll mend
Carry the wounded
Can my mind and will on you depend
Or will I fade into oblivion
Carry the wounded, carry the wounded
You are the lost sheep I long to find
My love for you the unconditional kind
Carry the wounded
The plans I have for you are not to harm
But you must listen, this is your alarm

The above lines are the song Carry the Wounded by Tourniquet. The song is basically about caring for those that are lost and wondering, and how it is the duty of us all to help them. In the end though, be it the song or in our life, the real work is done by God and His ultimate goal is for us to be reconciled with Him and He is always working toward that goal. The amazing thing is sometimes He uses us to help accomplish His goal of individual restoration within peoples lives.

We posted these lyrics to make the above point and as a partial follow up to our previous posts about building and developing new spiritual muscles. The goal of all Christians should be to become stronger in Christ, and increase in our ability to serve Him. We should not work toward these things (spiritual strength and increasing ability) where we can claim more blessings, or where we can receive more glory, but where we can care for or carry a few more wounded people with us. Our call is to carry those that are hurting and lost back to God where He can redeem or restore them to being full members of the body of Christ. We are nothing but paramedic foot soldiers for the Lord in reality. Our God given strengths and abilities merely allow us to stabilize and stitch them up for the journey back to the redeeming blood of the cross.

Today we urge you to work hard, push more, get stronger, and ignore the short term pain. We do not encourage you to do this for your own glory, but for the glory of God and to be the man or woman that God is calling you to be. We should all work to become able associates to other believers in the battle to find, mend and send the wounded of the world to God for Him to do His great work in their lives. He is the great physician and we are at best medical technicians. Always know your role and roll the best you know how.
