It takes time to become a leader (length of time may vary from
a few years to almost
a lifetime
but
the preparation
is
key - all
of the experience
work together to build the person)
1. Joshua 40+ years beside Moses
before He lead
2. 1 Tim 5:22 - character ex - list
of characteristics are not usually
obtained without time to learn
and become wise

why Paul warning
about not allowing
new Christians high power jobs in
1 Tim 3:1-7 = pride

a benefit
to a walk with
God.
It allows
us to grow,
mature and
prosper
in Him.
Gift mix scriptures -
1. Romans 12:3 - For by the grace
given me I say to every one of you:
Do not
think of
yourself more
highly
than you
ought,
but rather
think of yourself
with sober judgment, in accordance
with the measure of faith God has
given you. 4 Just
as each of us
has one body
with many
members,
and these members
do not all have the same
function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form
one body, and each
member
belongs
to all
the others.
6 We
have different gifts,
according to the grace given
us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let
him
use it in proportion
to
his faith.
7 If it is serving,
let him serve; if it is
teaching, let him teach;
8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage;
if
it is contributing to
the needs of
others,
let him give
generously; if it is leadership,
let him govern diligently;
if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
2. Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were
called to one hope when you were called-- 5 one Lord, one faith, one
baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all
and in all
EPH 4:7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
8 This is why it says:
"When he ascended on high,
he led captives in his train
and gave gifts to men."
EPH 4:9 (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also
descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the
very one who ascended
higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the
whole universe.) 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some
to be prophets,
some to be evangelists,
and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare
God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may
be built up 13 until we all reach unity
in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God
and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness
of Christ.
EPH 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves,
and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness
of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love,
we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament,
grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

6. God is still reaching out to lost humanity
1. Needs are still there, people are lost, work is not done - fields are ripe,
harvesters are few (Luke 10) - your field may be in Honduras, maybe in New
York, maybe in your community
6. Persistence Scriptures -
1. James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete,
not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who
gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts
is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should
not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded
man, unstable in all he does.
2. Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom
we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but
we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces
perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And
hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into
our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
3. HEB 10:32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the
light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of
suffering. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution;
at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.
34 You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation
of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and
lasting possessions.
HEB 10:35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly
rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will
of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For in just a very
little while,
"He who is coming will come and will not delay.
HEB 10:38 But my righteous one will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
HEB 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of
those who believe and are saved.

up. 2 He said: "In a certain
town there was a judge who
neither feared God nor cared about men. 3 And there was a widow
in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, `Grant me
justice
against my adversary.'
LK
18:4 "For some time
he refused. But finally
he said to himself, `Even
though I don't fear God
or care about men, 5
yet because this
widow keeps bothering me,
I will see that she gets
justice, so that she
won't eventually wear
me out with her coming!' "
LK 18:6 And the Lord
said, "Listen
to what the unjust judge
says. 7 And will not
God bring about justice
for his chosen ones, who
cry out to him day
and night? Will he keep putting
them off? 8 I tell you,
he will see that they get
justice, and quickly. However,
when the Son of Man comes,
will he find
faith on the earth?"
.

one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, `Friend,
lend me three loaves

him.'
LK
11:7 "Then the one
inside answers, `Don't
bother me. The door is
already locked, and my
children are with me
in bed. I can't
get up and give you anything.'
