Today in History - March 2
The following are some highlights in / of American history that occurred on March 2nd

    · 1836 : Republic of Texas declares independence from Mexico
    · 1867 Howard University established
    · 1868 University of Illinois opens
    · 1923 - The first issue of the weekly periodical "TIME" appeared on newsstands. The first issue was 32 pages and featured a charcoal sketch of Congressman Joseph Gurney Cannon on the cover. It was the United States'' first, modern, news magazine.
    · 1927 - Babe Ruth signed a 3-year contract with the New York Yankees for a guarantee of $70,000 a year, thus becoming baseball''s highest paid player.

    · 1972 - Pioneer 10 launched to Jupiter
    · Dr. Seuss , Al Del Greco, Jon Bon Jovi, Doc Watson, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Tom Wolfe were all born on this day.
My point in listing all of the above is to say that when viewed in the light eternity, or even long term history, these events and these people will not be that huge. Some of the above are already minor footnotes in history, but in 100 years all of the above will be minor footnotes at best. In fact some of them may not even be mentioned at all in 100 years. Even Dr Seuss will fade from the minds of people as time passes.

Now let’s look at the call on the lives of Christians. Christians are challenged / called to daily live their lives where they will impact eternity. That is a huge call. In fact that is such a huge call that most people consider it to be to greater then themselves to begin with. Add to that the fact that a huge numbers of these “eternity impacting” actions are forgotten quickly, or ignored entirely, within the history of man, and you can easily see why people become discouraged to carry out their call out. What people miss though is that these “eternally impacting” actions do not typically occur in large scale, but actually occur person to person or within interpersonal relationships on the small group and friend to friend level. Actions like these, these small unnoticed actions, are the ones that will change the lives of a person, or even a few people, involved though.

That is the real call to Christians. Not to necessarily do things that the world notices and remembers for hundreds of years, but to impact people in and around where they are positively for eternity.

The redeemed ARE the hands and feet of God on this earth. That means that they should be actively laboring DAILY to impact the world for God. TODAY is the day of salvation and we personally have no promise of tomorrow. Our work yesterday, last week, last month, last year, or a decade ago might all be great and wonderful, but we have been given another day, another chance to do even better work, and accomplish even greater tasks. We should not let the chance this today provides to get away.

I know this post is short, but it is not due to lack of ideas or lack of motivation from God, it is simply due to the fact that I do not want to take more of your time then necessary today to tell you to stay active, be busy, and work hard for the Lord. This is the time that God ordained for you to be on earth and to be active doing His work. Impact the world today, impact the world.
John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father. 13 "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
