Blog’s For McCain’s Opponent
To us it is interesting that we are posting this the day when there is a current debate if a pastor can speak about politics and still retain their church’s tax free status. Though we are not personally for poltical endorsements from the pulpit, we fully support the right of a pastor to speak freely. There are alot of speech we do not like, but that does mean that we want it limited, stopped or controlled. The right to speak, even if it is unpopular or disagrees with my personal views, should be protected for everyone. That sort of makes the point we make again later - it is legal and ok to be a a be Christian and still have a political voice. Part of freedom of speech is allowing everyone to speak, regardless of their religous afflication and vocation. With that said - here goes.
For those that missed it - Daisy Cutter - has started a new blog group - Blog’s For McCain’s Opponent. The full reason and method behind the group can be found here.
Though we may not agree with Daisy Cutter in every way and nuance - most noticeably the idea of a 15% national turnout in a election be positive. That scares us because there are more then that percentage on the government dole and a 15% turn out likely means that few people with jobs voted, as the unemployed always have time to vote. Alexis de Tocqueville told us “this American experiment is destined to fail once the population realizes that they can vote themselves money” Anyway, back to our point. Though we may disagree on some small isues with Daisy Cutter, we completely agree with the points that he makes about McCain and how McCain has acted toward both his party, his elector’s, his nation, and his opponents. So, since we are on the same page with Daisy Cutter on the overall issue, we joined his group. Long and short, Daisy cutters points are direct, clear and factual. You may not agree with them, but they are factually true. We particularly liked the fact that the group is positive - i.e. it is not AGAINST McCain but FOR McCain’s Opponent, that is the kind of optimism we like.
Fundamentally the deciding factor for us was not about right or left, republican v democrat, conservative v liberal, the basic issue is simple - undermining Senate power and trying to overturn a election via selfish actions and personal grudges. The fact that Bill - the HEART of the Senate - Frist got submarined is not the real issue here. We would be just as offended and just as supportive of the opponent if this same scenario had been Robert Byrd (D - former Klan leader and king of pork - WV) undermining the power and control of Tip “bring another round for my boys” O’Neil (D - DOA - MA). So, before everyone accuses us a being the member of some right wing cabal you might as well accuse of being classic liberal’s (small limited government with lots of personal responsibility and individual liberties) while you are at it. If believing that the Senate should not be ruled by a small number of self focused glory hounds (regardless of the party) makes us members of a right wing cabal then we are we guess.
We know that some will have problems with a Christian site having a political view and making a political stand - well if you do tough. The Bible teaches the concept of dual citizenship - i.e. we are citizens of both the heavenly kingdom and the earthly realm. Paul consistently used both his Heavenly call and his Roman citizenship to accomplish what God called Paul too. Christians are called to stand up for what is right and correct, weather the issue in debate is social, political, or an economic issue. As US citizens, even if we are Christians, we have the right to have a political opinion and to voice it. We have the right to speak on political issues, even if we are saved by the grace of God. God’s salvation does not result in removal of the right of political speech. When earthly issue’s conflict with Biblical teaching then one has to follow the Bible, but no such issue exist here. Christ never told his followers to remain silent about government issues, just not to place them above heavenly ones and to give only give them proper respect but no more then is due it. In the end, then we still have the right to speak about politics, even if God saved us.
Check out Daisy Cutter’s post, comment here or there as you feel lead, and have a great day weather you agree with us or not. God is moving and blessing regardless of party, politics, and participation. In the end, this issue has no impact on eternity but it does have a impact on the future and direction of this nation. With that being at issue we should have an opinion and stand for what we believe.

Thanks, guys. The 15% turnout was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but that’s okay. We are up to four of us now. That’s 400% growth in thee days. Also, please put up a heading and our links to each member site … as I have done on my site. Thanks.
