Supreme Court Judge steps down

Sandra Day OConner has announced she is stepping down from the court. ( Fox News Story here) She was the first woman appointed to the court and has been the swing vote in many decsions during her time on the court.

There is absolutely no chance that Bush will be able to get a supreme nominated / approved before the October beginning of the next court session. We are about to see a court with 8 or less justices in October. The Chief Justice is still likely to step down, and there is a possibility of a third justice stepping down. Bush fights a UPHILL to VIRTUALLY impossible battle of getting people on the court that via the Constitution as static and not open to addition. We could see a court with as few as six justices for the next year or so….interesting stuff….
