DC’s Birthday Party
The East Tennessee Historical Society (here) has a event coming up Saturday celebrating the birth and life of East Tennessee’s legendary - Davey Crockett - KING OF THE WILD FRONTIER. The event is at the East TN Historical Society - on Gay St in Downtown K-town - and will be fun and informative for the entire family.

August 13 — Davy Crockett’s Birthday Party
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.The party promises something for family members of all ages featuring demonstrations of Appalachian crafts and skills, traditional music, storytelling, and of course, birthday cake! Annual favorite Jim Claborn returns to the event in his familiar role of storyteller and “friend of Davy Crockett.” His stories of Davy Crockett’s life and East Tennessee tall tales have delighted children and adults alike each year. Jim dresses in the style of Davy Crockett and other East Tennessee frontiersmen and carries a replica of “Old Betsy,” Davy’s first rifle. The actual rifle is on display on the third floor of the building in the McClung Historical Collection

The Crockett Tavern Museum has been celebrating “Davy’s” birthday for 47 years at the site of the boyhood home of Crockett in Morristown, TN.
We will be celebrating from 3-5 on Wednesday, 8/17 (Davy’s real birthday) with FREE refreshments and children’s activities. “Davy” himself will make an appearance!!
