A new blog series…maybe…
Mark Olsen, blogger at Pseudo-Poly Math, has a VERY VERY cool idea for a “series of blog essays” that compare the times, lives, cultures, events, etc of two historic personalities. Mark’s first suggestion is David of the Bible vs a character like Achilles from Homer’s work. The idea would be to work through a comparison of their heroic acts, then maybe the cultures, then maybe their deaths, etc. This could stream into many other areas as well, and Mark is open to hearing about other person’s that people would be interested in comparing.
Nothing is in stone (no pun intended) on this project yet, but this could be a fun and legitimate use for the classes that we all took in high school and college, both public and private, that we thought we would NEVER use. Well Mark may have found a use for them.
Personally I am still trying to figure out how to use Portugese in my daily life, but hey that is just me, and I do think that this may be a good use for those literary and political history courses I set through. Nice stuff, great idea, and we are on the list to be involved, as time allows, if Mark gets this thing rolling. We hope that other bloggers will choose to do the same.
