Ice Cream / I Scream War
Preston Taylor Holmes of Six Meat Buffet fame has found the dozie story of the day in my book. Burger King is pulling and redesigning their ice cream cone because of a complaint from a Muslim customer that the ice cream top design said Allah and was sacrilegious. Read the full post about it here.
Unlike Preston Taylor Holmes we do not recommend the use a hit man/person to solve problems like this, we just recommend ignoring stupid people. I would say the same thing if were a Christian complained about a company’s sign looked like cross, or because a sandwich wrapper had a few lines that looked like cross. In a case like that they would be ignored, and rightfully so.
Only in the world of political correctness do such situations arise. I use the following litmus test in situations like this - 1) was the company or person trying to be offensive, and 2) did the offended person have to go looking to be offended. If the answer to the first is no, the answer to the second one is really unimportant. Look at original intent people, and get over the petty stuff. In this case I say no to the first and yes to the second, so the person and topic should get ignored, regardless of the faith involved.
People, of all faith’s and views, grow up and start acting like adults. There are enough goof balls out there really trying to be offensive and hurt people, worry about them. Do not waste your time, or mine, or the time of others, with stupid petty stuff. If you think the ice cream at Burger King is offensive, go to Wendy’s. I am sure Burger King would be better off, and save some money, without you as a customer and Wendy’s, and their frosty dessert, will be happy to have you and your money.
