Kindergarden Tolerence
Jay over at Stop The ACLU has a story today about a parent in Lexington, MA that was arrested and is now facing charges for requesting that the school tell parents of when they are going to teach students about homosexuality in terms of family dynamics. The school argues that the information is being taught in relationship to acceptance and respect not in regards to sexuality.
The issue arose because the parents Kindergarten student, that is right a 5 year old, was sent home with material that discussed homosexuality in terms of defining a family, etc. The parent is currently banned from all school property in the city, and is not even able to pick up his own child from school. Interesting story, let us hope that this trend of respecting diversity over parental rights is not sweeping America, but it seems that it may be at times.
This story comes only a few days after the story regarding a appeals case questioning a lower court’s decsion that said it was ok for 12 year olds in California to be taught to become Muslims - including completing the pillar of faith, fasting, taking a Muslim name for week, etc -, yet similar teachings of Christianity would be illegal.
