Microsoft LIVE - Update

Forbes.com has a very well written and informative piece that analyses the recent announcement by the Redmond gang to begin introducing AJAX compatible, closer to open source, web based applications.

Now, how this new direction / project perks out is yet to be seen, but at this time Microsoft is talking a good game, but it is largely talk at this point. There is a move out there to web based apps and Microsoft, if they miss the boat or miss by much, is in a place where it could really be injured long term. The Live.com, the new portal, is still small and the applications, which are promised, are suppose to be on the way soon. Microsoft is even saying that their new apps will work with Firefox, wow…I will believe it when I see it.

I just hope that Microsoft getting in, even if it is late, will cause others to innovate. Competition is always good for the end user / consumer.
