Happy Thanksgiving

Today is the day the United States celebrates the things that we are and should be thankful for. Actually we should be thankful EVERYDAY for what we have, but that is another topic.

Anyway, there is a lot of history around this day that few seem to care about, i.e. the real root of the holiday, but that is not something we want to get into today either. No today, we want to list a few things that we are thankful for.

Before we get to the list though we want to say that it is vital to be thankful EVERYDAY for what you have, not just on certain days. God blesses us EVERYDAY, and we though we forget to at times, it is vital to remember that EVERYDAY is a blessing and we have something to be thankful for everyday.

Now for the things that we are thankful for. This is by no means a complete list, but it is a list of the things that come to the front of our mind when we think about our blessings and God’s provisions.

Our Salvation which was provided by Christ’s death on the cross that paid for ALL our sins (past, present and future)
The ability to pray directly to God
    God’s guidance and wisdom
    Our relationship with Christ
    The Holy Spirit
    My understanding & beautiful wife
    My parents
    My dogs
My friend Dave, who just happens to be my pastor as well, and my church
My friends - all of them, even the ones that are annoying at times

- those are the top 10, after that no particular order -

Blog and web site visitors / encouragement
    Free speech
    Freedom to worship God openly
    My health
The fact that I have a job (even if it is not the perfect job)
The Soldiers that go to protect my freedoms and extend those freedoms to others
    My house
Heat & air in the house
    Freedom to learn and grow
    My Cannondale
My MP3 player and computers - the things that keep this site going and me from driving my wife crazy
A car that runs - two actually
    Blogs & the internet
    A free press
    My Sunday school class
    Freedom to disagree
    Free and open elections
The fact that the US is a republic and not a democracy
    Caring / helpful people
Truth - even it is painful
    A full fridge and freezer
The silence of the early morning
    God’s beautiful creation / nature
    A full stomach
    Eyeglasses where I can read
    My small library
    Good shoes
    Clean socks
    Warm clothes

100’s more but space does not allow

Remember to be thankful today and everyday for all that God has blessed you with.
