The National Post (Canada.com) has a story this morning about the judge’s decsion yesterday to not accept RIM’s (Research In Motion) - maker of the Blackberry - deal with NTP to settle the patent infringement suit for $450 million. This could lead to Blackberry’s US service having to shutdown, however RIM claims they have a software workaround that would avoid patent infringement. RIM and NTP have not spoken since June, and this decision may bring them back to meeting and it seems that NTP is in the drivers seat at this point if the injunction is issued.
