Term Limit’s Round Up — *** UPDATED ***
R Neil of Knox Views has a excellent round up post from various media sources that cover the current Knoxville Term Limit issue. R. Neil’s post here
—- Update —-
There is a breaking story that the Knoxville election will go on as planned, with the ballots as is, due to a state law that does not allow the changing of a ballot within 40 days of a election. It seems the plan is to let the race / election go as planned and then post election straigthen this all out.
That is nothing but a law suit waiting to happen. If a incumbant among the 12 that are in despute win, and it is likely most -if not all of them - will, they will sue saying that law affirmed by the TNSC can not kick them out. Their argument will be that they were elected legally and that the such a election was a clear decsion of the voter. Their next arguement will be that since this issue was unresolved at the time of election, they should be allowed to serve out this term.
The fact that local law legend (at least in his own mind) Herb M is suing to include the sheriff in this decsion the case / issue is about to get HOT!!!
In the end this decsion is going to do nothing but cost the city, the county, and the tax payers of both a fortunate. The end decsion will be that the SC decsion was too close to the county commission election. This election will stand, and the law will be effective next go around. The entire sheriff thing will take a time to play out and only time will tell on that.
