Phil Williams and April Fool’s
Local afternoon talk radio host Phil Williams announced this afternoon that he is moving back to the morning drive. He has been doing afternoon talk on 100.3 since August, but he is going back / over to 98.3 and is back to a music format station again. Personally, I hope this is not a April’s Fool joke, as I would like to see another show in the time slot.
Today, when I stopped listening at 5:50 - when I got home - they were still acting like it was serious. The story goes that the replacement / new 3 ot 5/6 PM on 100.3 show will be announced a bit after 9 AM Monday on Hallern Hilton Hill’s show. Again, I hope this is not a joke. I personally remember him and a former radio partner pranking their listeners with a thing about taking your phone off the hook where the phone company could blow the dirt out one April fools. It was a good prank, I hope this one is not the same thing.
Phil seems like a nice guy, but I never liked his talk show. It just was not me, and just not my cup of tea. That is not a knock on Mr Williams or his listeners, but I just was not one of them. I found myself flipping over to other stations to avoid the show honestly and I have several friends that told me they were doing the same. I may be in the minority, but that is just how it was for me. I did hate to hear Megan crying about Phil leaving, that was sad, of course assuming iti s real.
Again, I wish Mr. Williams all the best, I hope the AM show will let him play golf and be with his daughter like he wants to be, and I hope this move, if it is serious, makes him happy. If the story is true Mr Williams seems excited by it, and I know that I am excited to see what the about what the new 3 to 6 show will be. I would say that the Jay Kerstein show is a possibliy, but we will see.
I really do hope that Mr. Williams is happy after this move and that it works out, as I wish him no ill will, but his show was just never my cup of tea. Of course there are a lot of radio shows that are that way to all of us, so best wishes, thanks for the attempt and hopefully the next show will be something I click with. If not, my radio surfing and CD listening will continue from 3 to 5:30 or so daily.
So, best wishes Phil, good luck, and hopefully the next show will make me want to tune in a bit more.

[...] Phil Williams just announced that the Friday announcement that he was going back to the River / Earl to play music in the AM was a April Fools joke.
