Iran is in the nuke club
Jay over at Stop The ACLU has two post up today that tell point to the fact that Iran is indeed a member of the nuclear club now as it seems that thye LIKELY have the first of their centrifuges going.
Jay first post discusses a statement by Iranian president Ahmadinejad yesterday, regarding “the Almighty” coming. - post here
Jay’s second post - here - covers the official announcement of Iran’s nuclear power program today.
So, it seems that Iran now has working nuclear power plants, or at least partially working plants. They will be fully functioning soon I am sure.
Odd how many are more concerned about Bush taking Iran’s nuclear facilities out then actually worrying about what Iran may do with their nuclear technology in the future.

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said “I declare here that the laboratory-scale nuclear fuel cycle has been completed and young scientists produced enriched uranium”. What was his definition of laboratory-scale? Laboratory scale characterization, small scale and pilot scale test method development.

My reading of the statement is that they have 1 of 164 centrifuges going and that they will soon have the additional 163 going at full speed. Simply they have the test / prototype system running which means they can get the rest of the system up now. I would say they will have all 164 up within a few months. Once you get the basic one up reproducing it is not hard.
