Wii = new Revolution, not likely I think
Nintendo finally got around to officially naming their upcoming game console. The development name was Revolution, but the official name will be Wii - pronounced We. Full details at Cnet here
Long story short I think the Wii will be destined to be the third horse in a two horse race. As cool as the controller is the platform just does not seem to be as revolutionary as the Xbox 360 and the upcoming PS3. Also Nintendo has said they plan to build the platform on unique / niche games, not mainstream titles and majority themed games. I.e. they will make more Tetris / Mario games and not focus on less Gran Turismo 4’s / Halo 3’s. I just do not think people want that kind of game console today. In a 8 and 16 bit world the unique games were cool, but even tetris, pinball, monopoly - i.e. board or traditional stand alone games - have to bring a complete gaming experiance now, not just interactive game play.
