Peace for Darfur, at least for 48 more hours

PennLive.com has a story - here - that peace talks in the Darfur region of the Sudan have been extended. This extension is due to the rebels not agreeing to the current plan, but allows the cease fire to continue until midnight Tuesday. These talks, which have been going on for over two years, are aimed at ending the civil war that has killed or maimed 10’s of thousands of people.

Team Swap / Swap Blog has been actively promoting and encouraging the US to become involved in bringing peace to Dafur over a year. We truly believe that the only means to a solution within Darfur is via international and economic / poltical pressure. The Sudan needs to be stable and that is only going to happen if the parties involved have no benefit to continue fighting. It is likely that true peace will come via a plan for two nations (one Christian and one Muslim) within the nation that is currently known as Sudan. We urgently ask you to pray for peace for the Sudan and for the Darfur region. We would also ask you to contact your representatives, regardless of your nationality, and urge them to help bring peace to this troubled region.
