Superman discussion continues…
David C Price has a nice post, based on a Dallas Morning News story, regarding the upcoming Superman Returns movie and all the Christian / religious imagery in it. The story provides some nice background to Superman, past movies ,and how this issue has been involved in the Superman stories of the past. David’s full post here.
Regarding the sub text, imagery, etc not being exactly the gospel David’s says the follow -
Besides, unless it is a movie such as The Passion of the Christ, a movie with particular imagery need not necessarily “get it all right.” In fact, because it doesn’t can often lead to deeper and more lively discussion.
I would agree with that. When the movies is suppose to be about Christ I expect accuracy, when it is just referencing or showing part of the story I find the movie, book, story, etc can and does lead to many interesting discussions.
