Redneck stupidity / WTW by proxy
Though we are not officially a member of the White Trash Wednesay blogroll, living in the South sometimes we must participate in similar, though un-associated, activities as a attempt to purge the South of some of it’s most stupid. Today is one of those days, and it just happens to be Wednesday so “AIN’T WE ALL LUCKY”
First of all I have to say that though I have observed numerous trends within the car world, and within the youth that customize their cars within each of these trends, none was ever as stupid in my view as the lowered truck. Let me see, let us lower a truck (designed to haul items, thus in need of clearance where it can clear obstacles and such while under load) to a point where they can not clear a speed bump or haul a six pack of Coke from Wal Mart without bottoming out. On top of that let us change the shocks / springs to where they are so stiff that they bounce the entire truck when it runs over a twig. This was STUPID, this was DUMB, and such facts have not changed even though the trend now is to go higher (via 20″, 22″, 24″, etc rims). The current trend has issues of its own that I will not discuss, but the lowered truck will always hold a special place in the realm of stupidity in my heart.
Now for the current issue. Today on the way to work I was passed by a lowered, and I mean 2″ off the ground, DUALLY!! For those that are urban / suburban at dually is a truck with 4 rear tires designed to haul / tow more then typical trucks. They are distinguished by their wide flared rear wheel covers. A lowered dually is about as useful as a lifted Pinto.
“Hey man what you got there?”
“Man I got me a 75 lime green Pinto on 24’s”
“Cool”
Simply a lowered truck is stupid, but a lowered dually is UTTERLY stupid. Said vehicle can not haul ANYTHING, can not tow ANYTHING, and looks like a truck that barely escaped the car crusher as it bounces (and I do mean literally bounces) down the road.
I will attempt to get a picture of his monstrosity and post it, as I go the same route to work most days, but no promises. Until there is photo evidence though just trust me on how much we need to purge our land of this type of stupidity.

Hey man, Why dont you post some pictures of your sweet ride. Just so you know where you live down there in red neck ville most guys dont properly lower a truck. They heat the springs to sag them. If you ever notice a non lowered dually they bounce quite a bit too, you just don’t see it because the bottom of the truck is higher off the pavement. I have owned a 2003 GMC 4 door long bed non dually with a 9 inch suspension lift and dual fox shocks, and it does not ride as good as my SLAMMED dually, which tows a 36 foot tri-axel gooseneck trailer loaded with race car and mobile garage with spare engines and transmissions ect. and living quarters. It also rides as good as my wife’s Escalade. Just thought you might like to know that you were wrong. Get your facts straight next time. If you want I can send you some pics of each of my trucks to save you the trouble of taking your own while on the freeway. Have a great day at the office

That would be great Jamin. Send those pics along and we will post them.
As for your lowered dually it sounds like it does work, but I do not think this one could and I still stand by that. If you want to lower your vechiles fine, but that does not mean that I have to think it is smart. You have your view, I have mine.
Also, I am also familar with the proper way to lower and lift vechiles as my brother in law drives a Jeep Wrangler with a 11″ lift and 36″ tires. Needless to say he loves to off road. He also has a lowered Hyundai (not a truck I know, but it does ride nice).
Send the pics though we would love to post them.

I have the same opinion on lifted trucks that you have on lowered trucks. first off most of them ride like a road wagon, not to mention all the road noise from the tires that are designed for off road use. Also if you go around a turn to fast the can roll over and kill you. If a truck has been lifted it is almost impossible to find anything it can tow with having all kinds of special equipment and if you want to tow a 5th wheel forget it unless you put a lift kit on it and that would look really even more stupid than a truck with a lift. I myself have a dually that is lowered and it rides like a cadillac. Also I don’t have a problem towing my 12,000 pound 5th wheel. Seems to me like you should think before you speak or type

Personally I am not fond of lowered or lifted trucks either. So many are just done so badly they make the vehicles worthless. This one blogged about is the classic example. Glad your works though, glad you like it, I still think they are impractical and foolish. Again though glad you like yours and I am glad you are happy with it.
