Star Jones
Well as the world knows now Star Jones left / was fired from the View yesterday. You ask why we reference this, well that gives me one more reason to NEVER watch the View. I watched 10 minutes of the show one time and was about ready to kill myself.
That show is about as interesting as ice cream melting on the pavement outside my office. Take Star Jones out of the mix, and with Meredith Vieira leaving, all you got left is Barbara Wa Wa, Joy Behar (who is NEVER funny), and Elizabeth Hasselback, well at least she is reasonable at times.
Simply Star, minus 100+ lbs, has become a different woman. I think the new Star has stronger opinions, whether you agree with her or not. I think Star, with strong opinions, ran head long into Barbara W more and more by the day. Bottom line I have always thought Barbara Walters was afraid of being challenged. That is probably the reason Elizabeth H is the only confirmed conservative on the show. I think they fired Star because she got a stronger voice on more issues, and Barbara did not want possibly two people disagreeing with her.
Bottom line I think Star comes out of this stronger in a year or so, but short term she has a hard road to hoe. Of course the View will still languish in virtual obscurity outside of the media that constantly taut it as a strong show. Maybe Star and Tony Danza can team up. The STAR TONY show coming to the WB this FALL!!! With Connie Chung as their news anchor, maybe Connie could do a song a week too.
