It is never enough
Churches / ministries have a way of destroying the brightest within their midst. There are various ways that they do it, but I want to talk today about the most common way I have seen it today and that is never being satisfied with what the person does.
I say this not out of anger, but out of concern. Over the last 20 so years I have seen it, heard of it, and watched it happen numerous times. Bottom line churches find hard workers and work them until they kill them or the person quits. They kill the person by always wanting them to do more, and when they do something complaining about how it is done or wanting the person to do it differently. After a few rounds of this the person finally quits / gives up. What does the church do then, well they begin to question the commitment of the person to the faith. Moves like that just make the person more frustrated and soon you have a person / family out of church, and the church asking what happened to them. Few churches / leaders ever take the time to really see that the person just got tired of being torn down instead of being built up.
Understand I am not saying people that work hard in a church should not be questioned, or challenged, about things, but the simple fact is that churches are famous for overworking / discouraging people and then leaving them forgotten in the dust bin of church history.
Obviously, the real glory of all the work done within / for the church should rightfully go to God and Christ, but people laboring for the body should find the rest of the body encouraging and supporting not discouraging and negative. Next time someone is laboring for God trying encouraging them and helping them, instead of telling them how they should do it or what else they should be doing. Bodies are only as strong as the things that hold them together and if the ones that have the most strain on them are constantly being chipped at by others then the body will eventually fail.
