The Last King Of Scotland

Filed under: Current / General, History, Misc, Politics permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 8:08 am

It looks like there is another interesting movie coming out for us poly sci / pundit types. It is called The Last King Of Scotland. It stars Forest Whitaker and is about Idi Amin. I added it to my Blockbuster Online list - i.e. it is looks like it is worth a watch, but I am not paying $8 to see it.

Foxnews story on the picture here.

Foley

Rep Foley is a pervert and scum bag. He probably acted illegal. He had / needed to go. Good riddance and may the court system have no mercy on him if he broke the law.

Landis Hip Replacement

Filed under: Misc, News, Sports, Technology permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 6:48 am

Yahoo Cycling has a post up that Floyd Landis’s (embattled Tour De France winner) had his hip replaced successfully on Friday. Landis will begin rehab immediately to attempt to return the the highest levels of competitve cycling. Landis should be back on the bike (at low speed and low reps) in 1 to 2 weeks. Stories like that really remind you just how far medical innovation have brought us.

Landis still faces doping charges and could lose his 2006 TDF title. Landis has requested that his trial be public and open. There are also questions about the B sample being from a number not assigned to Landis.

UT v Memphis

Filed under: Current / General, Misc, Sports permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 5:26 am

Dispite the claims of my future brother in law, I think UT will beat Memphis and do it handlely. UT was not as dominate of Marshall on the field as the score showed, but I think UT is strong enough to power past the Tigers. I think the final score will be UT 28, Memphis 17. Don’t be surprised if this game is still close at half time. I hope UT wins, but I hope they get stronger even more. They are going to need some power and strength to best Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and South Carolina in the coming weeks.

A Cheerful Heart

Though we are a bit late in putting this one up, it is never a bad day to have a cheeful heart. John T Brown from Scotwise had a excellent post up on Friday about the importance of having a cheerful heart. John does this via a scripture reference and several amusing stories. As John put it

WE ARE REMINDED THAT BEING CHEERFUL KEEPS US HEALTHY… IT IS SLOW DEATH TO BE GLOOMY ALL THE TIME!

The Op Ed’s that scared Islam

Filed under: Current / General, Faith, History, News, Politics permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 4:20 pm

Michelle Malkin has post up today with the translations of the Egyptian Op Ed’s, and a few other recent news pieces, that caused Islamic radicals to raise up. The reaction of the Muslmis even caused Robert Redeker to go into hiding in France.

Personal Side Note - if you are going to hide from angry Muslims France seems like a bad choice to me considering their riots and nights of fire within the last year and considering how little the French police carried about either……I would go with Austria, Switerland, or possibly Northern Italy….hard to burn places (or cars) where it snows ALOT

Anyway, give Michelle’s post, including all the back pieces and full op ed’s and associated articles, a read here.

buddy time vs Bible time

Milton Stanley, linking to Michael Duduit, has a post up about how many church youth groups teach more about socialization then about actual Bible values. Very interesting stuff. Give the full post a read here
