Arab Heroes Of The Holocaust
Sigmund Carl and Alfred has a excellent post up about the new work- Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust’s Reach into Arab Lands- by Robert Satloff.
I first heard about this work and author last week on Fresh Air and it sounded interesting. SC & A looks at a recent speech by Satloff and then moves on to look at the research and work Satloff did in writing the work. SC & A even includes some details about the stories in the book.
Bottom line, the Jewish experience in Arab North Africa during WWII was similar to that of European Jews, minus the gas chambers, and the reaction of the local Arabs ran the range from complete partnership to heroic personal sacrifices to save Jews.
