UT Basketball

Filed under: Current / General, Local, Misc, Personal, Sports permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 10:48 am

Again I say - LOCK PEARL INTO A 10 YEAR DEAL!!! This guy is worth EVERY penny we pay him as he has UT men’s basketball back on the map (after about a 30 year gap) and he is getting people excited. Hopefully this will also put some pressure on Fulmer to succeed.

UT Basketball had a big win last night in front of a sell out crowd. Those are two things that still sound strange, with the later being stranger then the first. Making it even better they beat FLORIDA. Anytime Florida loses to UT (home or away) it is a good day in Volunteer land.

Billy Donovan from Florida said it well when he said that he would not take anything away from UT’s win by talking about how Florida came out slow. UT simply played well and won. UT outplayed Florida and for Florida to be a top 5 team that is something - regardless of their losing streak or not.

I have to admit I got a bit worried when the 27 point UT lead shrunk by 14 in two minutes, but I was sure UT would hold on and win and they did.

GREAT JOB BRUCE PEARL. GREAT JOB UT BASKETBALL GREAT JOB (CAREER) DANE BRADSHAW

P.S. - Never let Pat Summit sign Rocky Top again. It was cool, ONCE!! She is a great coach, she is a great supporter of Bruce Pearl, she is a great ambassador of the women’s game, she is a great Tennessean, but she is not a great singer.

You traded what for a DODGE!!

All over the news this AM is the story of the lady in Pueblo, CO that traded her 5 month old son for a car. What kind of car did she trade her son for you ask? She trade him for a USED Dodge Intrepid.

I am not trying to make light of this story AT ALL!! It is ridiculous to even think about trading a child (or person) for a good (or service). That is just crazy. To trade for A USED Dodge Intrepid though is even crazier.

This lady should be put UNDER the jail and her child should be put up for adoption to a family that will love and appreciate him. The Intrepid should be given to agency where someone in need can get some use out of it.

Over the next few days we are going to share the contents of a email that came in to us over the transom of Al Gore’s internet. It is a series of statements to God through the eyes of children.

Michael Savage

Filed under: Personal permalinktrackback — Travis @ 11:36 pm

You have heard the name. I started to listen to him in 2003. Over the last few weeks he has really started to annoy me though. The man made a comment about how having children is not a right and poor people should not be allowed to have them. He also has a sort of man-cow belief that all things seem to be passed on to the children through the genes. This includes flaws in character) and thinks that drug addicts should not be allowed to have to children.
Last night he recieved a call from a man who was of the Nation of Islam. The caller belived that a nation ran by a black man would create a less racial favored society. The response Savage gave was that of a Klan’s man.
” You show me one country where a black man is in charge and the right of all races a better leveled than in America. A black man will never run America nor will the Islamic believers. I hung up the ohone on him. I don’t want to talk to ignorace.”
Michael Savage does not acknowledge others opinions. I see no way that a black man being in charge can hurt the society in any way. I believe that it would bring a new game to the table. We have been playing the same came of hold’em for so long that we forgot that there is another side of things. A black man in control is not giving control to the Nation of Islam. Not all people of the Islamic faith have the plans to kill us eighter. This is the same type of views that got us to be the hated nation that we are today. At some point we have to accept that people are going to believe diffrent. We have to show them respect anyway.
I love the fact that America was created with the teachings of Jesus has the inspiration. I hate the fact that we are falling short to live up those teachings. Talk to the Nation of Islam about Jesus yes, but to tell them that they will never have a say in America is ignorace. They do. Which is another reason that instead of making them our enemy we need to be showing the love we are commanded to show them. Show them our ways are not violent toward them. They seem to think that we hate them and that makes them hate us.

The root cause of terrorism

The Hate Mongers Quarterly, published daily, has a excellent post up today analyzing Dinesh D’Souza’s The Enemy at Home which blames 9/11 on American trash values and culture while giving Osama bin Laden (and his goon’s) a pass. Like HMQ’s crack young staff we dislike trash culture and values too, but they are not the reason 9/11 happened, even if they make us look bad to “fundamentalist”. Side note - Why exactly do or should we care if people in nations living in the 7th century like our nation or not? When did they become the ultimate judges of how WE should live. Anyway, give HMQ’s post / review a read and really get a grasp at what is being charged and what is being cleared here. Post here

24

Well last night’s 24 was COOL!!

As much as I dislike former President Logan he is a great bad guy. The house arrest without the knowledge of the American people part was classic. No one was really surprised to find out he knew the guy in the Russian embassy that provided weapons to terrorist. It was nice to hear Wayne Palmer tell Logan that the furlough to negotiate did NOT mean that he forgave Logan.

As I said in a comment last week, Jack’s father NOT killing him was really not a surprise. Maybe at the end of this season Jack can marry his sister in law and “redeem” the family name. Time will tell.

Morris’s continued “I drank but I spat it out” bit is classic. I enjoyed the - “Sorry I gave them the bomb, but I can still work” speech as well. Was I the only one that noticed that his phone had a Rolex screen on it. Classic.

The kill the president plot went overall as I expected. You knew that the adviser would have second thoughts and the “operator” would tell him that it was a about the nation not the individual act of killing the president. Thomas Lennox will eventually come out of this looking better then he should, he will claim that he was trying to foil the plot and was captured. In time that lie will be shown out, but his remorse post attempt will keep him out of big trouble. The “reformed” terrorist seeing the bomb and yelling - BOMB - just as it goes off was great. The idea of a form enemy saving the US president is great. I liked the ambassador vs terrorist discussion on how to define a enemy and a threat. I liked how the ambassador did not to be in the same room as the terrorist as well, but still thought the speech would go a long way in making change.

The Russian terrorist saying that he would rather fight the terrorist then America was a nice plug. I like how the Russian terrorist respond by saying that if they had success America would fight the terrorist for them.

Bill Buchanan is doing a nice job at CTU, but he is becoming less and less vital to the story by the episode so I would be worried about him dying before next season. I am hoping that Sandra Palmer shows back up again soon.

FALTERING LIPS

We intentionally waited until today to post a link to and comment on John T Brown’s Sunday Sermon post on Scotwise this week. We waited because we thought it would be better to remind everyone MID week to be sure to seek out and find a place in God’s service then to do so on Sunday. Sunday seems like a easy day to tell everyone to go out and serve God. Tuesday is much harder for most people to want to go out and serve God. That is the reason we think Tuesday is the right to to encourage people to get to work in the Kingdom.

Back to the post now. John has a excellent post this week reminding us all that it is not as important how we say things, but that we say something and do something. Actions, attitude and consist living say far more about a person then how they present their message vocally. That is a good lesson for all us. Give John’s full post a read here
