Banned In China

Filed under: Current / General, Personal, Politics permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 7:58 am

As you can see on the banner at the top of the blog now, this blog is banned in China. We found this out by going to the Great Firewall Of China.org. There may be times that our site (Team Swap) and our blog (Swap Blog) are visible in China, but from what we can tell we are banned most of the time. As our sub header says - “It’s the communist thing to do”. This is what you get when you have leaders that stifle speech and try to make their citizens follow their rules not the desires of the population. Something to think about.

Not one “red” cent

Filed under: Current / General, History, Politics permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 7:41 am

Basil from Basil Blog is calling for all Republicans, and even Republican leaning voters, to withhold their contributions to the GOP. In other words - not “one red cent” for the party that is portrayed in red on national maps.

Basil, who considers himself a conservative who votes Republican normally - though he is NOT a registered Republican, thinks such action may wake the GOP up related to conservatives and may also result in more money in your pocket (interest off the un-donated money) in the end. Basil, who wants Fred Thompson to run, hopes that the Republicans will find their core conservative values again and offer up a candidate in the Goldwater and Reagan line not the Bush / Ford line. Give Basil’s full “Not One RED cent” post a read here.

Abbott and Costello on Computers

Filed under: Misc, Technology permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 7:38 am

This came in over the I-net transom and we decided to share it.

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on… If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, “Who’s on First?” might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: Thanks. I’m setting up an office in my den and I’m thinking about buying a computer.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: No, the name’s Lou.

ABBOTT: Your computer?

COSTELLO: I don’t own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: I told you, my name’s Lou.

ABBOTT: What about Windows?

COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?

COSTELLO: I don’t know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

ABBOTT: Wallpaper.

COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

ABBOTT: Software for Windows?

COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals and track expenses. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

ABBOTT: I just did.

COSTELLO: You just did what?

ABBOTT: Recommend something.

COSTELLO: You recommended something?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: For my office?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let’s just say I’m sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

ABBOTT: Word.

COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: Word in Office.

COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?

ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue “W”.

COSTELLO: I’m going to click your blue “w” if you don’t start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: That’s right. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.

COSTELLO: What’s bundled with my computer?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.

COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT: One copy.

COSTELLO: Isn’t it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later)

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?

ABBOTT: Click on “START”…………

Meet the Robinsons - A Winner?

Filed under: Current / General, Photos / Images / Video, Technology permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 1:28 pm

Steven Rea at the Philadelphia Inquirer really thinks the “new Disney” under the founder of Pixar is bound for great things if the new Disney movie - Meet The Robinsons - is a guide. Meet the Robinsons will be presented in 3D in theaters and is tale of a orphan with a time machine who is being chased by a evil doer. Rea tells of the amazing animation, the tight story in relation the book that it is based on and the concludes that this is the type movie Disney should be making. Rea gives it 3 1/2 out of 4 in the end. See why in his review here.

Real Life Tech Support

Filed under: Misc, Personal, Technology permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 11:06 am

Real Life Comics had a great post on Wednesday about how tech support was back in the late 90’s and how it still fills today at times.

Real Life Comics - March 28th, 2007

On a personal note I spend 30 minutes earlier this week on the phone with someone having them copy ONE file from their desktop to their jump drive. The total call time for the project - to move the file from one machine to another and then install the update (clicking on ONE self installing file) - took 1 hour and 45 minutes. He concluded the call by telling me that the next time he did it, which will be in a few months, he would call me back where I could walking him through it STEP by STEP AGAIN!! That is the stuff that equal HANGING times for me.

Moral Rejectivism and Iran

Filed under: Current / General, Faith, History, News, Politics permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 10:38 am

Sigmund Carl and Alfred, in his own unique style, as a great post up that looks at how the concept of debate has been left by many radical Muslims and how it is a denial of basic facts to act as if there is much to debate with Iran regarding nuclear weapons production.

Does anyone really believe that a nuclear armed Iran would shut down production of nuclear materials and give up WMD’s, even if Israel were obliterated? Does anyone believe that a regime that amputates limbs, stones women to death and executes children, will ever find itself in accordance with the literati in the salons in Paris or on English polo fields?

SC & A goes on to discuss the forces that could potentially destroy the majority of Islam, due to the silence of the average Muslim, much like Germany was destroyed and disgraced in WWII by the rise of unfettered radicals due to the silence of the vast majority of citizens. Give this one a read and a think.
