Mary Winkler
I am still not sure we have a full and complete picture of the Winkler marriage. It would seem that Matthew Winkler was definitely controlling, as people outside the marriage seem to agree on that, but the charges regarding physical and sexual abuse within the marriage seem to be based on the word of the now convicted manslaughterer (not sure that is a word) Mary Winkler. The fact that she owned, and he liked her to wear, stripper shoes does not equal sexual abuse in most peoples mind - unless of course the woman has a bad back or something. The oldest child testified that she had not seen the abuse, but I am reticent to take the word of a 10 year old as 100% evidence either.
Bottom line I would say the Winklers needed marriage counseling at the least and a separation, which may have lead to divorce, at the worse. The fact that Mary, in her own testimony, got the gun out to make him talk to her shows at least a badly damaged marriage. I really doubt that she got the gun out though just to “make him talk” as most people don’t pull a gun to force conversation. Matthew Winkler may have been, and probably was, a controlling and bad husband, but that did not mean he deserved to get shot in the back with a shotgun.
I think Mary Winkler got a light sentence in the end. She will likely be out within 2 years. That is a short term for killing your husband and the father of your three kids. Especially when the amount and details of the abuse is in question.
I am sure that we do not, and will never, have have a accurate picture of all the facts and issues within the marriage. I do know is that to me the eventual outcome though seems to far outweigh the known issues within the marriage and that Mary Winkler got a light sentence.
I also think that if the situation was reversed, Matthew shooting Mary for messing up their finances, or something else, he would have gotten far more time then 3 to 6 years. If he had brought a gun to the room just to make her take to him about their finances I think he would have been convicted of more then manslaughter too.

if matthew would have done the same thing……he would have been sentenced to life in prison, no questions asked……she got 67 days…..must be nice to get away with murder
mary had a lot of time to make-up her side of the story…..

Mary Winkler update: She is now free
after serving 12 days in jail, and 55
days in a “mental health” facility. It’s
easy to say someone was “emotionally
abusive” and deserved to be shotgunned
to death while sleeping. Of course there
was no evidence of abuse and the accused
can’t defend himself since he’s now dead.
Case closed, congratulations Mrs.
Winkler, Lawywers and brilliant jury !

If the Judge, Prosecutor and Jury had first read my book about FALSE PREACHERS, they’da probably NEVER sentenced the poor girl to Prison at all. Google the word ‘RELIGIOSOPHER’, and see what all you can LEARN about the SATANIC PASTORS of the Protestant ‘Church’! There’s a whole book available on the subject. Give the girl a break.
