Fight Fair-(from premarital counseling)

Filed under: News permalinktrackback — Travis @ 7:47 am

Okay so last night was the last session of counseling for me and my soon to be wife. We covered three subjects and instead of putting both into one post why not spread it out. The topics that were presented to us were fighting, right thinking, and sex. Well you can look at the topics and see why they would each need to be discussed. So for now we are going to do fair fighting.
What does it mean to fight fair? You hear this boxing and growing up may have heard it a little in school. So what does it mean to fight fair with your wife/husband? I means to fight for today. A fair fight is not a fight with things that happened yesterday, last week, last year, or anytime besides today. Alot of people have a mental set post-its and when ever something is said or done they will mark it down ad store it for later. We fill up the gun with has many bullets we can fit into it before the big fight. Why? We are asking for a big big fight.
When you husband or wife does something that is not all that likable to you(and they will) you have to address it that day or let it go. Now that doesn’t mean that you have to fight in the middle of a restaurant. That means you should look them and say,”I know you love me but what you just said really hurt my feelings. When we go home we should talk about this.”
It is not that hard to do. Most of the time it is habit to hold in our thoughts of how we feel. For us guys it is even tougher. We are suppose to be macho men! We have to realize that our women see us as their big softies. We should feel up that roll. Now don’t worry guys they also see us as their rocks, protectors, and all that other strong guy stuff. They want you to be able to tell them what is bothering you and not do it in three weeks over her not filling up the gas tank. Women the huffing and puffing for two days doesn’t help. We need to know what is going on with you. You have to let us when we hurt you. Don’t get in front of us during Saturday’s game and remind us of all our failed attempts to start home projects and then our personal faults.
Fighting should be fair and that means for us to fight about an event that happened today and not any other day. Let the bullets go. Your fights will be over a lot faster. There are tons of books on healthy fights. Go and read one some time. It will really help your marriage.

Three in one and all the same? What?

Filed under: News permalinktrackback — Travis @ 12:02 am

The Trinity. If there was ever a more confusing aspect of God I do not know of it. However I think we make it to complex. Below you will see three examples of things that I have found/thought of that make it a little more common and maybe easier to see how it works. No this is still a confusing subject so don’t worry if you don’t get it. I don’t most of the time.

1. Michael Jordan

2. Time

3. 3 in 1 printers.

Now lets see how we can relate them to the way the Trinity works…
1. Michael Jordan. This man played basketball. He also played baseball, and yes he even plays golf. Now when he played basketball he was Michael Jordan. Baseball? Michael Jordan. Golf? Michael Jordan. He expressed himself in three different ways. That however never changed the fact that he is M.J.. He doesn’t change who he is just because he has different ways he can work.
2. Time. We have time in three forms. Past, present, and future. Just like Michael all three are time but they exist in an entirely different way. They each are used to measure time. We refer to past experiences, things we deal with today, or tomorrow as the same element. Time. God was manifest into the flesh(Jesus), remained in heaven(God the Father), and lives inside of us(the Holy Ghost). All three are God just expresses in different ways.
3. 3 in 1 printers. Same concept as number one and number 2. The printer will preform in three different modes, printer, copier, and scanner. This changes nothing. It is still a printer. God died on the cross, governs all things from heaven, and stays with us. That changes nothing. He is still God.

Now all three of these point to the same answer and are not that in depth theology you were probably hoping for but it really helped me to understand it a little more once I saw that working in three separate forms but still be the same is not all that uncommon. Hopefully it may have helped you too.

I am a Baptist, therefore, I would really like to know what the persons of First Baptist Church of Romeoville were thinking when they asked “convicted child sex offender” Jeff Hannah to “step into the pulpit until a replacement was hired” and “served in that role for three years and ever since has been a fill-in preacher, teacher and music minister at the church.”

I give you all a new commandment!

Filed under: News permalinktrackback — Travis @ 7:28 am

So, lately I have been writing alot about love and marriage and personal matters. I got to thinking alot yesterday about love and a thought that I had thought before came to mind. It is from the scripture….
“So now I am giving you a new commandment, Love each other. Just I as I have loved you,You should love each other.” John 13:34 (Words of Jesus)
No when I first heard this scripture it didn’t strike me as weird. It was only after a while that I saw something. This is not a new commandment. We have always been told to love each other. Every one knows that.
So what is this. The Bible does not contradict itself! What is this?
And then it hit me. Just like so many other things that Jesus did while He was here He changed some thing in the previous commandment. He is the reason for the fulfillment of the law and though it is unspoken I take from this scripture that He is the one who revolutionized love. Jesus did not say that love was the new concept now did He?
The way we view love and the way that He created love is a different thing. Our love screams out what can you do for me and how soon can you do it? Then we have Jesus who tells us that our love is not good enough. We need to follow His example. Jesus was the light of the world in all aspects. Mainly love. We were created for love, by love, to love. When Jesus came and laid down His life for us He should us love. To be a Christian means that yo have to give up certain things and those that we hold on to make pour love of nothing.
Our love until the time of Jesus was the law. Keep it and you were a friend. Violate it and you would face server punishment if not death. Jesus says no with this comment that He makes. Jesus yells to us to forgive other, show mercy, help people.Do what your part is in God’s plan and things will go alot smoother for. The main thing is follow the examples of Jesus and not the laws that kept us from seeing the end this world and the new of another. Show peace, mercy, and charity. That goes along way to getting back to right with love.

Blasphemous U.S. Mint Brings New Commandment

Via the column of pudgy conservative Tony Phyrillas on NewsVine, I see that the U.S. Mint has snubbed Me. This is one of the new $1 coins:
In God We Trust appears on the edge of the coin, not the front! Tony shares My outrage:

You will find that the constitution says yes we can have the motto “In God We Trust” on our money’s front, back, and anywhere else we please. Go read it.

Fulfillment- (Premarital Counseling)

Filed under: News permalinktrackback — Travis @ 11:32 pm

Don’t you love that your wife or husband is the part that completes you. She or he makes you feel fulfilled. Right? Wrong my friend! You spouse cannot fulfill no more than you can fulfill yourself. Like when you go out and by stuff but you still need more stuff so you keep on buying and buying. It will never end. You cannot be satisfied. You will always want more than yo have. It is the same way with you wife our husband.
Lets break it down. Men your wife is going to fail you. She is going to disappoint you. Dinner may be bad one night, the house a wreck, the clothes not folded, or she may actually lie to you. Ladies your husband is going to want to watch the game while you are cleaning, he will fall asleep on you new couch with in a week, his socks will not be turned right side out when you go to wash them, and you know what…? We will forget on of those holiday’s that you think we should be able to recite in our sleep(friendly joke, we should know those dates).
Here is my point. you are going to let each other down alot. If it is fulfillment you are looking for you should not hold you breath. Fir you will turn blue and pass out. Fulfillment is not deserved. We are deserving of hell because of our sins. God never sad that we should live a life of complete enjoyment. We are told of hardship and trials. If you want fulfillment you better find Jesus. Because no person, place,or thing will give it to you ever. People are not fulfilling.Only Jesus is.
