UT Vs Arkansas State / UT Football in general
Well I now believe that UT will be 7 and 5 at best this year (with losses to Cal, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas and either Georgia or South Carolina), we may be 8 and 4 but that is the best I see us coming out this season. With that said, let us look at today’s game.
UT is facing Arkansas State at Neyland Stadium. It is on pay per view, really need we know more about the quality of the game then that.
This should NOT be a close game, but it will be. I say this because, Arkansas State has given severely good SEC teams fits in the last few years and UT is not a good SEC team at the moment. Arkansas State runs a spread / modern offense and Tennessee’s defense has not faired well against that scheme so far. None of that bodes well for the Vols.
With that said, I do not think UT will lose. I think the final score will be UT 35 to either 24 or 28 for Arkansas State. If it is closer then that UT should consider this a loss.
If Arkansas State wins then Phil Fulmer had better start packing Saturday night as there will be a new “interm” coach before the Georgia game. If there is a “interm” coach I can only hope it is our offensive coordinator - David Cutcliffe - where we can lose a few more games this year and the UT administration will be forced to make some REAL changes at the end of the year.
The worst thing that could happen here is for Fulmer to get run off before the season is over and UT still have basically the same coaches next year as this year with David Cutcliffe as head coach attempting to right this ship next season. We go 6 and 6 if that happens. Cutcliffe is not the right answer for UT as head coach. Neither is John Chavis.
Additionally, if / when Fulmer goes I do not want to see a “nationwide search” that “discovers” that we had the right man for the job in our midst already. It is time for NEW blood, FRESH air and MODERN ideas at UT.
I really want to see UT win today and to win out. I just don’t see it happening though. If it is not going to happen then I want to see Fulmer gone at the end of the year with a 7 and 5 or similar record. Short term pain is better then long term suffering.
The UT fan has watched this team decline since 1998, with the exception of 2004 which seems to be a fluke now. Is a decade of decline not enough to justify some change? I think so.

I think we will run the table from here or 9-3 at the worst.
Our defense is terrible but our offense can score on any of our remaining opponents as easily or easier as they can score on us. We just have to go in to each game knowing we need to score 50 or more to win.
If Georgia hands us our head, I take it all back.

I really don’t think it possible to go 9-3. We could easily lose to 5 to 7 more games. I predict a lose to Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and South Carolina and there is a good chance of us losing to Kentucky. Vandy will give a run for our money. We cannot put up 50 points. We don’t go for big plays. We nickel and dime it. Screen on third and long, and give up 200 and more yards in the first 11 plays of our games.
Troy and Ole Miss had better games with Florida then we do. The SEC is solid on offense all around and on defense too. Everywhere but one place. Tennessee. I love my Vols but I will not lie. I don’t see us has escaping with less than 5 losses this year.
