Great Documentary
It has been a few years since I have seen it last, but I just wanted to take a minute give everyone the heads up on great documentary. I first saw it back in late 1999 and early 2000. It is called A Century Of Living and was made by / for HBO. The documentary consist of interviews with a group of people all born in or before 1900, which were still alive in 1999. The biographers allowed the people talk about their lives, the changes they had seen and what / who had impacted them. It is a great education on really how great of change the world has seen in the last 100 or so years. It also shows the nature of those that really live their lives to full effect.
I remember when I was a teenager, and my grandmother was in her late 70’s - born 1903, I began to think about how she had seen transportation go from horse drawn, to railroad defined, to road vehicle driven, to airplane flown, and then to rocket shipped launched. The changes in that segment alone blew me away then. It is even more amazing when you begin to ponder the changes in other areas - like communication, food production, medical advances, educational standards, and such. I would encourage everyone to take the time and rent / buy a copy of A Century Of Living and give it a watch and a think. Share it with some young people and some kids as well.
