The Lucifer Effect and the “Pontius Pilate” argument

[H/T to Pseudo-polymath for this one - post here]

Subversive Influence has a great post looking at the Lucifer Effect or what makes good people do bad things. SI begins by referencing the legendary Stanford Prison Experiment from the early 70’s - where those assigned to be guard quickly began to torment and humiliate those assigned to be prisoners -, and then goes on to discuss other similar ideas. Towards the end, Subversive moves on to analyze how similar human actions can and do occur in and around churches / faith. He concludes by referencing the Lucifer Effect website as well, including the portion of that site devoted to theology. Well worth a read and a think. Post Here

Pseudo-polymath wonders if such a idea or argument could be used in what he defines as the Pontius Pilate, or failure of courage leading to a decision, argument regarding abortion, which P-PM discusses here.
