Lance Armstong coming out of retirement…
Though it is NOT confirmed yet the rumors are ripe and Velonews has a story up about it. Based on the story and the rumors Armstrong will race in 5 races - Tour of California, Tour of Georgia, Tour De France, Paris Nice, and the Dauphin Libere - for the Astana (i.e. the basically renamed former Motorola / USPS / Discovery teams) team which was rebuilt by Johan Bruyneel and has a large number of former Discovery rider, directors and support staff. That would put 2 riders who have combined for 8 of the last 9 TDF wins on the same team. That duo when teamed with Levi Lepiheimer (a rider with a descent shot at a overall TDF win) gives Astana a similar three rider attack scheme like CSC had this year and which lead to Carlos Sastra’s overall win. The 2009 TDF just got REAL REAL REAL interesting. I guess my 7 hat is in danger of being outdated.
