Above The Golden State

Filed under: Current / General, Music permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 8:14 am

I heard Above The Golden State’s Sound Of Your Name for the first time about a week ago on XM32 The Message. It really blew me away being so beautiful and simple. Though it is not my normal style of music (it is far softer then what I typically listen too), I really like it. Above The Golden State’s first CD - which is self titled - dropped on the 22nd (yesterday). If you are into CCM I would recommend you give them / it a listen and see if it will fit into your library.

What is the deal?

Filed under: Current / General, Misc, Music, Personal, Photos / Images / Video permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 11:44 am

Chevy is currently running a ad with what I can only call a Musak version of Word Up by Cameo as the background music. What is the world coming too…..1) why would you pick Word Up as the background music to sell cars / trucks, and 2) why would you get some version OTHER then Cameo if you choose to use Word up. I do know the answer to both - #1 it is a catchy tune / phrase, and #2 they don’t want to use such a “hype” version of a song to sell trucks. Regardless I think it is CRAZY. For their next ad I suggest the following version of Insane in the Membrane.

Samsung & Adidas take on Nike & Apple

Filed under: Current / General, Music, News, Technology permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 12:05 pm

Samsung and Adidas have rolled out the miCoach, their team work effort to compete with the Nike & Apple ipod training solution team up that began in 2004. The Nike sensor is built into the shoe, while the adidas sensor is a lace on so it is not shoe specific. The Apple Ipod solution is a music player only offered in 4 & 8GB sizes, while the Samsung solution has a phone built in, yet only offers 1GB of music storage. Full story here

One more reason Knoxville is better then Gary or..

Pittsburgh, or Buffalo, or Detroit, or Kalamazoo, or Toledo, or the entire states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.

SC&A has a lovely post up with video showing why people move South. Sure we wreck down here when it snows, but hey we built our roads on converted cow paths and it really does not snow here we just get ice with a snow mist on top of it. I will trade our 3 or 4 bad DAYS a year to 3 to 4 bad MONTHS up north. SC&A’s post here

Some Geek In Tennessee has a very interesting post up about the Apple keynote. Instead of the normal cooing that comes from many Apple fans this is a great review and discussion of what really was discussed, introduced and shown. Great stuff. Give it a look here

American Idol’s Rain Cloud and Scary Chic

Filed under: Current / General, Misc, Music, Personal permalinktrackback — Team Swap @ 8:45 am

I am not a big American Idol fan, in fact I never watch it when the bad tryouts are over, but that guy from last night with the Paula fan and his own personal song was not funny, he was depressing. I hate to sound trite, but he was a gloomy guy. Making it worse was his “friends and family” telling him how great he was at other things - he has to be better at other things then singing - while he came off somewhere between Stuart from Mad TV and the low talker from Seinfeld. These people seem to just be reinforcing his shyness and gloominess. That guy was just depressing. I really hope he finds something that will let him get out of his shell and live a bit. It is tough to see such a gloomy and introverted guy without a lot of hope and direction.

The final chic - the one that was in two years ago and was disqualified - was a amazing singer, but her dude with the face ink was SCARY!!! Her tats were obvious, but they could be hidden. He could be a real distraction to the PR in her career down the road I think. She is not going out for the lead singer of a female version of Sum41 or Greenday, but American Idol - i.e. MAINSTREAM POP!! If she does not make the final go in American Idol maybe she could do some duet work with Social Distortion / Mike Ness … that would ROCK!!!!
